The 'Flavours' of Motivation
In this podcast, Sport Psychologist Dan Abrahams interviews me about my research. We discuss role-modelling character, designing a coaching legacy, as well as player motivation and wellbeing. These concepts form part of the Growth-Focused Sports Coaching (G-FSC) online training program that I have developed for youth sports coaches. The program draws on research from around the world, such as self-determination theory, achievement goal theory, implicit v entity beliefs theory, character strengths, and best possible selves.

Five ways to support your Miniroo
I often hear coaches bemoan parent behaviour from the sidelines of their children's games. Too much shouting and 'win at all costs' mentality are amongst some of the gripes. Whilst parents can be a positive influence, they can also prohibit young players from enjoying the game. Ultimately this can cause anxiety and turn children off their sport. The Strengths Exchange launch
On 27th June 2015 Professor Lea Waters launched The Strengths Exchange website at The World Congress of Positive Psychology, Orlando. The site brings together stories of character strengths from children, teenagers and parents from around the world. It includes videos that enable families to discover what character strengths are and how they can be applied to everyday life. It provides a free resource that aims to encourage families to start conversations about the strengths within them.
