Motivation
Career analyst Dan Pink examines the puzzle of motivation, starting with a fact most social scientists know, but most managers do not: Traditional rewards are not always as effective as we think. He contrasts autonomy, mastery and purpose with carrot and stick rewards. He discovers that the former work best when creativity is required and the latter best if tasks are routine.
